in the wind chimes
A willow warbler welcomes the sun on the old wall
A green shoot thrusting through the snow
Blooming small white flowers, velvet-soft in first warm sun;
Meadowlarks give lusty cheers when spring appears
The birds around me hopped and played,
Their thoughts I cannot measure:--
But the least motion which they made
It seemed a thrill of pleasure.
Full of fresh scents when you feel the March breeze,
But you better watch out for kite-eating trees!
Springtime is seen as a time of growth, renewal, of new life (both plant and animal) being born, and of the cycle of life once again starting. It is also used more generally as the start of better times.
