How late can you plant flower bulbs in CA and still have them bloom in late Spring?

I have a small garden that is narrow and is only about 8' deep by 7" long. This is where I want to plant the blubs. It faces the East morning sun. Please help so I can set it up now for Spring is almost here. Thank you for all the answers in advance.

IF YOU FIRST PLACE THE BULBS ON ROCK-WOOL OR A SYNTHETIC FABRIC SORT OF MUSH THAT HOLD WATER VERY WELL AND LET THE ROOT SYSTEM GRAB HOLD...YOU CAN LATER (IN ABOUT A WEEK) PLANT THEM AND HAVE THEM PROSPER
